Play 7 v 7, but allow 6 v 6 games by mutual agreement of the coaches if someone has a small team.
We will use Brine pop-up goals and no goal keepers.
Play two back and use a center line, like you would have in a boy's game, as the restraining line.
Play 20 minute running time halves with clock stoppage in the last two minutes of each half. One time out per team per half, following a goal.
The field should have the following dimensions and configuration. 70 yards long, 40 yards wide. The goal line is 10 yards from the end line. The pop up goals are centered on the goal line in a 2 meter (6.5 foot) radius crease.
8 meter arc with hash marks. No 12m arc.
Use a 30 foot radius center circle.
Spirit of fair play. Coaches must work to keep games developmental or encouraging. If the score is lopsided, coach should instruct players to connect multiple passes before shooting, or to play left (or weak) handed.
Rules of play:
Standard restarts after a shot goes out of bounds or a player plays the ball out of bounds.
Standard denial of goal for crease violation
No covering
No checking
Anything more than incidental body contact is a foul.
Standard rules about dangerous propelling, shooting.
3 second shooting space rule applies. Defenders have to be actively guarding someone in the 8-m area and cannot just be fill shooting space.
On restarts for major fouls in the 8-m arc, attacker is given the ball at the nearest hash mark on the 8m. But remember, no shots from a free position! She must pass.
Center draw will start play after goals. If one team is up by 4 or more, the other team gets a free position at the center for after-goal restart.
